Katelin Van Zyl is an elite athlete and mindset coach who helps people rebuild confidence, resilience, and self-trust through focused training and lived experience. Grounded in elite sport, injury recovery, motherhood, and mental health, her work goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about learning how to show up when life feels uncomfortable, chaotic, or overwhelming — and discovering the strength that’s already there.

From Athlete to Mentor

Katelin Van Zyl’s journey isn’t just about performance — it’s about learning how to rebuild when life doesn’t go to plan.

Her story spans elite sport, injury, motherhood, mental health, and starting again — and it’s this lived experience that now shapes how she supports all of her clients.

Foundations in Elite Sport

Katelin spent most of her life in elite sport from a young age. Having played field hockey from the age of four, she went on to represent Australia as a Hockeyroo — developing the discipline, resilience, and competitive mindset that would shape everything that followed.

Year 2013

Finding CrossFit

After injury brought her hockey career to an end, and needing a change, Katelin discovered CrossFit in 2013. What began as a way to stay active quickly became a new arena for competition — one that challenged both her physical capacity and mental resilience in entirely different ways.

Year 2024/25

Strength on the World Stage

Katelin’s strength and composure have been showcased beyond sport, including competing as an Australian Gladiator on Channel 10 as RAVEN, and representing Team Australia on Physical: Asia. In high-pressure, highly visible environments, she became known not just for physical ability, but for calm leadership, grit, and the ability to perform when everything was on the line.

Coaching, Mentorship & Community

Today, Katelin works hands-on as a coach and mentor, supporting women through training, injury, motherhood, ADHD, anxiety, and the challenge of starting again.
Drawing from elite sport, personal setbacks, and lived experience, her approach goes beyond fitness. It’s about helping women rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and reconnect with their strength — especially when life feels messy or overwhelming.
This is mentorship grounded in real life, not perfection.

Coaching, Mentorship & Community

Alongside her personal brand work, Katelin is a co-owner of a strength and performance training facility, where she actively coaches group classes and provides personal training. Known for being hands-on, she often trains alongside her members — leading from within the community rather than above it.

Her work in the gym reflects the same values she brings to her broader mentoring: consistency, accountability, and showing up even when things feel challenging.

Injury, Recovery & Starting Again

In May 2025, during a planned year away from CrossFit while returning to hockey, Katelin ruptured her ACL. It was a moment that forced everything to slow down — training, competition, and the expectations she had placed on herself.

Navigating recovery as an athlete, a mother, and a coach deepened her understanding of patience, identity, and what it truly means to rebuild strength from the ground up. This experience now shapes how she supports others moving through injury, setbacks, and seasons of uncertainty — where progress isn’t linear, and resilience is learned one day at a time.

Training With the Nervous System in Mind

Being diagnosed with ADHD and Generalised Anxiety Disorder gave Katelin language for experiences she had lived with for years — intensity, hyperfocus, overwhelm, and a relentless drive to push forward.

Rather than seeing this as something to fix, she learned how to work with her nervous system, structure her training, and lead with empathy. It’s shaped how she coaches others who feel mentally overloaded, emotionally stretched, or disconnected from their bodies — reminding them that strength isn’t about changing who you are, but learning how to work with it.

Experience at the Highest Level

Katelin’s competitive background includes representing Australia as a Hockeyroo, competing at the CrossFit Games on three occasions (individual and team), setting a HYROX world record in an all-female relay, and appearing on national and international television through Australian Gladiators (RAVEN) and Physical: Asia.

While these achievements matter, they are not what defines her work today.

What matters most is how those experiences shaped her ability to lead under pressure, adapt through change, and support others through demanding seasons.
